Project Description
What kind of game are you planning to build?
We are planning to build a 3rd person multiplayer fighting game. Basically, it is a high paced battle that takes place on Library Walk on the UCSD campus. And the contestants...are the infamous CS professors of UCSD - such as ice-Kube, Voelkernator, mr. xtORDinary, and ... RottenBorg!
More Details....
The game will be something in the lieu of Super Smash Brothers combined with Powerstone. Characters will be controlled using a 3rd-person, somewhere sideways-behind/above him perspective. Movement will be simple with 8 degrees possible. Attacks will also be simple, with basic punches and kicks, possibly simple combos, and also swingable and throwable weapons.
We are planning to use a stage modelled after library walk as the arena for combat. The actual stage itself will be kinda big but not huge, maybe something along the lines of 3x3 game screens.
A basic walkthrough of gameplay will be like this:
Players pick their characters.
Game loads and characters enter stage.
A timer counting down to time end starts (countsdown for a few minutes).
Players start moving towards and attacking each other.
Items spawn randomly, (eg weapons) and players pick them up to use against other players.
Chaos ensues. Players run away from each other, jumping, whacking with keyboards, throwing books.
Players try to KO as many other opponents as possible before time ends.
Each time a player gets KO'd, the one that KO'd him registers a 'kill', and the loser a 'death'. ... yes this means you can be lame and steal ko's! Campers unite!
The KO'd player respawns and can rejoin combat.
Timer ends! The player with the best performance is the winner!
What are the goals of the game, how do players win, how do they lose?
The goal of the game is to kill all the other players in the game! You win by killing all other characters in the game. You lose if you get knocked out (your Hitpoints reach < 0) and then you must go back in and try to compensate by KO'ing other players! Player with the best performance wins!!
What are the interesting or unique aspects to your game?
We have profs! They will have power attacks with fancy effects!
Above all else, we will design our game to be fun!
Disclaimer: Although our game is based around real settings and real people, we do NOT in ANY way, promote violence in the real world. A game is a game because you can do things that you don't do in real life.
